行動研究就是讓教師親身探究自己的問題和做實驗，目的不在著書立說，創建理論，而是為自己解難，提升教學效能，使學生受益，令專業發展不斷進步。行動研究一點也不高深，用中醫的說話來描述就是「望、聞、問、切」。先對難題有所感悟，然後確定問題，再根據問題來擬定可行的解難行動或干預計劃，看看成效如何。成功的話，也要反思成效，然後再進一步，計劃下一輪的行動；失敗的話，便要檢討經驗，重整計劃，再次進行研究。行動研究就是要強調力行與反思。行動研究的好處就是「做中學，行中思」，達到知行合一。
